Ananda Nilayam and the Vimana Pradakshina

Temple spaces preserve layers of construction, worship, and architectural change.

The official TTD temple-history account describes Ananda Nilayam as the sanctum area and records that a wall was built around the sanctum and Vimanam between 1244 and 1250 CE. It also describes the surrounding Vimana Pradakshina and changes to the circulation space over time.

This is a reminder that a temple complex is not a single construction from one moment. Its visible form reflects additions, enclosures, ritual needs, and successive periods of patronage.
